Question:
Hi NormI enjoy your shows, try to never miss one. I have been watching you ever since you started with Bob Villa. My question is, when you say to center a groove in the center of the edge of a board. You say center it as close as you can and then turn the board around and send it back through and this will get it dead center. Well, say you was off a little, so doing it the way you are saying, wont this give you a sloppy fit, and the panel will be very loose and move around in the groove? Say this panel was in a door, this would rattle around a lot. And share some thing with us amateurs, how do you make it look so easy? ;-D Do you ever make a mistake?Keep up the good work, thanks and take care....Dick

Answer:
We always make the groove before we make the tongue or the panel. The groove will be centered if you follow the instructions of passing it first through one side (against the rip fence) then turning the other side to the fence and running it through again.Once we have the groove centered we calculate the width of the tongue and proceed.Good luck ...
