Question:
Norm,I am a rookie woodworker and I am having trouble cutting tenons on my table saw. My shoulder cuts don't always line up all the way around my stock. I have checked my miter (osborne EB3) for squareness and it is set correctly. I also made sure that my table saw fence was square before ripping the stock. What could be causing this? I follow the same procedure you use on your show by clamping a piece of scrap wood to the fence to set the tenon length.Thank you,BrianRichmond, VA
Answer:
Double check the ends of your stock for square in all directions with a good square. The slightest out of square condition will affect the shoulder cuts. You might check a couple of other things. Make sure the saw blade is perpendicular to the table and Norm has also found that if the gauge block which you clamp to the fence is not absolutely square to the table that it will throw off the cuts. |
