Question: Norm, I love your show and the work that you do. I have truely been inspired by your craftsmanship. I have been surprised this season though by how many times you have used dowels in your joinery. I am not a professional nor am I an expert but I thought that mortise and tenon joinery was superior to dowels with respect to strength and longevity. I know you produce quality pieces and this is why Im wondering why you are using dowels so much recently.Thank you for your inspiration.Dean Answer: We don't use many dowels except in our upolstered furniture projects. There the dowel is king. |
