After watching the croquet set and bench episode, I felt compelled to build one to use as a storage bench in my covered porch. This was a very fun and rewarding project. I made various alterations to the design and materials to suit my needs and budget, but it is overall very similar. The picture is a year after I built it and it has held up great so far. It is a great piece that really compliments my porch well, and extremely practical as we finally have a place to store all those extra boots and shoes outside the home.
